fall bike party

Riding your bike is great. Except when it isn’t. Sometimes in the soggy months, it’s hard to keep the bike-riding flame burning bright. Lloyd TMA wants to treat you to a bike party and stoke your fire for some winter riding. They just sent me this:

The Lloyd TMA is hosting their annual fall bike party Thursday, October 14 from 4:30 – 6:40 at the DoubleTree Hotel (1000 NE Multnomah). Join them for free appetizers, drink specials, door prizes, and to learn more about riding your bike during the winter months. Free bike parking will be available. Contact Heather at 503-236-6441 with any questions.

bike share?

I’m working hard to teach my littles about riding bikes. And sharing. Right now the people at Lloyd TMA are thinking a lot about bikes and sharing, too. In fact, they want your feedback about a bike sharing program in the district. In their words:

Bike share systems provide short-term bike rental through a series of automated bike kiosks. Paying members check out a bike to ride short distances and then return it to any other kiosk in the system. Rates are set to encourage short-term use and quick turnover. Bike sharing increases mobility by providing an additional, flexible transportation mode. It has the potential to introduce new people to urban bicycling, reduce peak-hour pressure on transit, decrease automobile trips, and improve livability.

Those are some lovely potential outcomes. Is a bike sharing program something you’d like to see in the neighborhood? Something you’d use? Take a 2-minute survey and tell TMA what you think.

Lloyd TMA 2.0 Launch Party

Our friendly, neighborhood Transportation Management Association invites you to discover new ways to connect.  Join them at the MAC Store on Thursday for a website launch party.

TMA does important work, and they do it better with input and participation from all of us in the district.  Stop by for a party after work, meet some neighbors, and get connected with Lloyd TMA.  If all that’s not enough, there are prizes…

Celebrate on 2 Wheels!

Friday is “Bike to Work Day” and the good people at Lloyd TMA encourage you to celebrate by, you know, biking to work. If you always bike to work, think of the TMA party as a little perk for being so rad.

If you’re bike-curious, let Friday’s party pull you across that line. After all, how could you not be compelled by breakfast, bike checks provided by Bike Gallery, an old-time string band, chair massages provided by East West College, and the warm welcome of other bike-y people? All of it free!

welcome, neighbors!

You might not know Lloyd TMA (Transportation Management Association), but you’d sure know it if they weren’t there doing what they do. In their own words, they’re “an action-oriented association working with businesses and public agencies in the Lloyd District to improve access and mobility…” TMA’s work to support biking and carpooling, parking management, and alternative work hour programs undoubtedly impacts everyone in the district. Whether living there, spending an afternoon, or passing through on a commute, everyone in the Lloyd District benefits from the work and the vision of TMA.

With the Café open and the building busy all the time now, Leftbank’s doors are open for conversation and connection. Last week a group of TMA board members gathered at Leftbank for just that. I planned to give them a tour of the building, but we started in the brewery and as a group we never made it anywhere else. This was likely due to Alex’s usual generosity with his time and his beer. After some sampling, we headed back up to the Café where the lure of good food in a comfy spot kept everyone around the table all afternoon. No matter. We were happy to have our neighbors over, and I expect I’ll have plenty of opportunities to show them through the building some other time.
